A 50th Wedding Anniversary Photo Quilt
My very dear friend, Jenn, has asked me to make a photo quilt celebrating her parents 50th Wedding Anniversary. No pressure, right? While I always try to do my very best on all the quilts I make, I want this one to be extra special. So, I've been doing a lot of plotting and planning.
The last time her mom was in town, we all went and selected the fabrics. I felt the fabrics should be more timeless and less trendy, so I tried to steer them in that direction. I really love the combination we came up with.
Each of the families submitted a certain number of photos. We bought photo fabric from the local quilt shop, although I'm not sure that it's strictly relegated to just fabric. Basically, the fabric is adhered to a piece of paper that allows you to run it through your printer. We decided on 5" x 5" inch photos, because I really like the look of square blocks rather than rectangular ones. The design of the quilt will go something like this:
I'm really excited to work with these fabrics, as they're very different from the fabrics I usually choose. I'm not gonna lie though, I'm a bit nervous about the whole thing. But, I just keep telling myself "...slow and steady, wins the race..." Just take your time and breathe.
