Getting Ready for QuiltCon
I'm in between sewing projects that have to get done right now and it's nice that things have calmed down. I've been looking forward to having some time to clean out some things as I've finally reached the point where I'm ready to be ruthless as I go through closets and drawers. Our OKC Modern Quilt Guild is participating in the Michael Miller challenge for QuiltCon that's happening in Austin next February. There are quite a lot of us going and we are all giddy with excitement. The lectures and workshops all sound amazing and I felt like I was planning my college class schedule as I tried to get make sure the lectures and workshops I wanted didn't overlap each other. We all got a few fat quarters of fabric and had to make a 12-inch block. The blocks will then all be sewn together in a quilt. The other gals have done a really great job with there blocks. Here's my block for the challenge.
I've been happy to finally use my Houndstooth Plaid quilt (below) so I must've had houndstooth on the brain, which, by the way, I can't seem to get enough of. For my block, I basically just took enlarged a portion of a houndstooth design.
In other news, it's going to be 111 degrees tomorrow and I don't even want to leave the house. Thank goodness the Olympics are on! It's been fun to have the games on in the background while doing other things. Go USA!
